Our best current Orbit alternative: SharkBetX

The affected Orbit route is 5%, while the SharkBetX account route checked by our network now shows 3%. Its public settlement page still says 2% and its FAQ says rates are set per account, so verify the displayed rate before every order.

The useful answer is therefore narrower than the search query suggests: the increase is real on the affected route, but the reason is not publicly documented. A guess about funding, liquidity, regulation or commercial pressure would still be a guess.

This page separates what we observed from what public sources establish, then shows the cost of staying at 5% and the checks to make before choosing an alternative.

What exactly is verified?

The first-hand evidence covers one affected Orbit access route:

  • the earlier account rate was 2.5%;
  • the current account rate displayed 5%;
  • the change was observed on 28 July 2026;
  • no gradual transition or public explanation was supplied in the material available to our team.

It does not prove that 5% is a universal Orbit rate. Exchange access can be provided through different brokers, account packages and commercial arrangements. Current public pages also show conflicting Orbit-related rates, which is another reason to treat the number on the actual account as the settlement input.

Why did Orbit Exchange increase its commission?

Orbit has not published a reason that we could verify. That is the answer as of 28 July 2026.

Several commercial explanations are possible whenever a brokered exchange rate changes, including a package ending, a broker changing its terms or the underlying commercial arrangement being repriced. None should be presented as the reason here without a dated notice that connects it to the affected account.

Ask the provider four precise questions:

  1. Is 5% the exchange rate, a broker rate or a combined charge?
  2. Does it apply to every sport and market on the account?
  3. Is commission calculated on net event profit, net market profit or each winning order?
  4. Can the rate change again on open or future orders?

Save the reply and the rate screen. A percentage without its calculation base is not enough to compare two platforms.

How much more does 5% cost than 2.5%?

Where commission is charged on positive net profit, use:

commission = positive net profit x commission rate

For 100 units of commissionable profit:

RateCommissionProfit after commission
2.5%2.50 units97.50 units
5%5.00 units95.00 units
Difference2.50 units more2.50 units less

The fee doubles, but the profit does not halve. Relative to the old after-fee result, 95 is about 2.56% lower than 97.50.

Illustration only. Apply the rate to the commission base defined by your own account terms.

Turnover is not automatically the commission base. A bettor can place a large amount of matched volume while producing a much smaller positive net result. Do not multiply 5% by total stakes unless the account terms explicitly define commission that way.

How do I check whether my Orbit rate changed?

Use a settled positive market rather than a marketing page:

  1. Record the gross positive result before commission.
  2. Record the commission deducted.
  3. Divide commission by the stated commission base.
  4. Compare the result with the rate shown in account settings or terms.
  5. Repeat on another settled market to rule out a market-specific exception.
  6. Ask support to confirm the effective date and scope in writing.

For example, a 5-unit deduction from a 100-unit positive net result implies 5%. A 5-unit deduction from a 200-unit base implies 2.5%. The deduction alone does not reveal the rate.

If positions are netted, use the final positive result after netting. Our betting exchange guide explains why commission should not be subtracted from every individual order.

What should an Orbit alternative be compared on?

Lower commission matters, but it is not the only cost. Compare:

  • the exact commission rate and calculation base;
  • available liquidity at the stake and price you need;
  • back, lay and order-cancellation mechanics;
  • partial-fill and unmatched-order handling;
  • settlement and void rules;
  • custody, deposits, withdrawals and currency conversion;
  • account eligibility and local legal restrictions;
  • whether orders and balances can be independently verified.

A platform with a lower headline fee can still produce a worse result if the available price is poorer or the order fills across several price levels. Compare the accepted average price and total after-fee result.

How does SharkBetX compare after the Orbit increase?

The SharkBetX account route checked by our network now shows 3% commission on net profitable positions. Its public settlement documentation still states 2%, while its FAQ says the applicable rate is set per account and locked when the bet is placed. The displayed account rate is therefore the number to use.

The product is not an Orbit clone. SharkBetX is an official Polymarket Builder with a sports-focused interface, back and lay orders, USDC settlement on Polygon and on-chain records. That gives it a different custody, funding and market structure, so moving is not only a fee decision.

At the current account rates we observed, 100 units of positive net profit would produce:

  • 5 units of commission on the affected Orbit route at 5%;
  • 3 units of SharkBetX commission at 3%;
  • a 2-unit difference before any network, conversion, price or execution effects.

Read our current SharkBetX review for the wallet, funding, execution and verification differences before deciding.
