Complete the site check before sending documents for the account check. In Great Britain, the Gambling Commission says licensed online businesses must verify age and identity before a customer gambles. It also explains that further information can be requested for legal or anti-money-laundering obligations. Requirements and accepted documents vary by jurisdiction and operator.
Match the site to a live regulator record
Start with the jurisdiction that applies where you are located. Open the regulator's own register and search for:
- the domain in your browser;
- the trading name shown on the site;
- the legal entity in the footer or terms;
- the displayed licence or account number.
First confirm that the jurisdiction permits the activity. Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs states that the government blocks online gambling, including services framed as prediction markets. Do not treat an offshore licence as permission to use the service from Indonesia.
Nigeria requires a location-specific check. Lagos State identifies its own Lotteries and Gaming Authority, while the FCT publishes a separate approved operator list. Record the actual state or FCT before choosing the evidence source; one list must not be presented as nationwide proof.

Where an applicable authority provides a register, the fields should describe the same relationship. The UK register distinguishes active, inactive and white-label domain statuses. It also shows whether a business licence is active, suspended, revoked or otherwise no longer active. If a site links only to a regulator home page, perform the register search yourself. A logo is an assertion, not verification.

Do not assume two sites with similar names, logos or designs share a licence. Do not assume a licence held by a parent group automatically covers every domain.
Check the terms that affect your money
Read these sections before the first deposit:
- deposit and withdrawal methods;
- minimum and maximum transactions;
- currencies and conversion charges;
- dormant‑account or service fees;
- withdrawal identity checks;
- bonus restrictions;
- account closure and balance return;
- customer‑fund protection;
- bet cancellation, void and resettlement rules.
The UK Gambling Commission identifies three disclosed customer-fund protection categories: not protected, medium and high. This disclosure is not the same as a guarantee. It also states that money staked in open bets is not treated as customer funds under those arrangements.

A regulated account is not automatically anonymous
In Great Britain, the cited Gambling Commission guide says licensed online businesses verify age and identity before gambling and can request further information for legal or anti-money-laundering obligations. Other jurisdictions, products and operators can use different controls. Read the applicable process before uploading documents, and use only the verified domain and official account channel.
Treat a promise of "no verification ever" as a market-specific claim that needs evidence, not a universal feature. For the privacy trade-offs, read anonymous betting risks. For control and support routes, use responsible gambling.
How to audit a betting-site review
A useful review should identify:
- the exact entity and domain reviewed;
- the observation or fact‑check date;
- the primary source supporting each licence and product claim;
- what was not tested or could not be verified;
- how any comparison or rating was produced;
- whether commercial links influence eligibility or placement.
Screenshots can document what appeared on a date, but they do not prove continued licence status or successful withdrawals. Unsupported ratings turn unknowns into false precision.
Reasons to stop before depositing
- The exact domain is missing from an authority tool that states it lists authorised domains, or the authority's alternative verification method cannot confirm the relationship.
- The licence status is not active.
- The footer entity differs from the account terms.
- The site claims local legality but cites only a foreign licence.
- Withdrawal rules are hidden until after registration.
- The support channel asks for documents outside the official account flow.
- A bonus headline omits material restrictions.
- The site blocks access to its legal terms.
One unresolved material mismatch is enough to pause. A long list of minor features does not offset missing legal identity.

No. HTTPS protects data in transit. It does not prove licensing, ownership or fair terms.
Is an app-store listing proof of local authorisation?
No. Match the operator and domain to the relevant gambling regulator.
Should I trust a licence number printed in the footer?
Use it as a search key. Treat the current regulator record as primary licence evidence after the entity, domain and activity match, while retaining any limitations stated by that register. The UK register, for example, says some website and trading-name data is supplied by the business and is not guaranteed to be correct.
Can a review verify withdrawals without using an account?
No. It can verify published terms and primary records, but it must not claim a withdrawal test that did not occur.
How do I verify my betting account?
Follow the instructions inside the verified operator's official account channel. Check which documents are requested, why they are needed and how they are transmitted. Do not send identity files through an unverified domain or an unsolicited message.
