How to Verify a Betting Site: Licence, Domain and Terms
A review can help organise evidence, but it cannot replace the regulator record or the contract you accept.
Are you verifying the site or verifying your account?
These are opposite checks:

Complete the site check before sending documents for the account check. In Great Britain, the Gambling Commission says licensed online businesses must verify age and identity before a customer gambles. It also explains that further information can be requested for legal or anti-money-laundering obligations. Requirements and accepted documents vary by jurisdiction and operator.
Match the site to a live regulator record
Start with the jurisdiction that applies where you are located. Open the regulator's own register and search for:
- the domain in your browser;
- the trading name shown on the site;
- the legal entity in the footer or terms;
- the displayed licence or account number.
All four should describe the same relationship. The UK register distinguishes active, inactive and white-label domain statuses. It also shows whether a business licence is active, suspended, revoked or otherwise no longer active. The MGA register provides authorisation and URL checks.
If a site links only to a regulator home page, perform the register search yourself. A logo is an assertion, not verification.
Identify who holds your account
The brand on the page may not be the company that contracts with you. Find the account terms and record:

Do not assume two sites with similar names, logos or designs share a licence. Do not assume a licence held by a parent group automatically covers every domain.
Check the terms that affect your money
Read these sections before the first deposit:
- deposit and withdrawal methods;
- minimum and maximum transactions;
- currencies and conversion charges;
- dormant-account or service fees;
- withdrawal identity checks;
- bonus restrictions;
- account closure and balance return;
- customer-fund protection;
- bet cancellation, void and resettlement rules.
The UK Gambling Commission identifies three disclosed customer-fund protection categories: not protected, medium and high. This disclosure is not the same as a guarantee. It also states that money staked in open bets is not treated as customer funds under those arrangements.

A regulated account is not anonymous
Legitimate remote operators can require age, identity, location and source-of-funds information. Read the published verification process before uploading documents. Use only the official domain and account channel.

How to audit a betting-site review
A useful review should identify:
- the exact entity and domain reviewed;
- the observation or fact-check date;
- the primary source supporting each licence and product claim;
- what was not tested or could not be verified;
- how any comparison or rating was produced;
- whether commercial links influence eligibility or placement.
Screenshots can document what appeared on a date, but they do not prove continued licence status or successful withdrawals. Unsupported ratings turn unknowns into false precision.
Reasons to stop before depositing
- The exact domain is missing from the relevant register.
- The licence status is not active.
- The footer entity differs from the account terms.
- The site claims local legality but cites only a foreign licence.
- Withdrawal rules are hidden until after registration.
- The support channel asks for documents outside the official account flow.
- A bonus headline omits material restrictions.
- The site blocks access to its legal terms.
One unresolved material mismatch is enough to pause. A long list of minor features does not offset missing legal identity.
