Mozambique Betting Sites: Official Licence List and Checks

This page converts the official Portuguese-language register into a verification workflow. It contains no affiliate links or "best" selection. Operational status means the regulator lists the entity as operating. It does not prove that every similarly named website or app belongs to that licensee.

What does Mozambique's IGJ confirm?

The Inspecção-Geral de Jogos, shortened to IGJ, describes itself as the public body assisting the finance authority with control, inspection and supervision of gambling activity. Its authorized-games page includes sports betting in physical locations and online, provided the activity operates within the country's laws and regulations.

The IGJ licence-procedure page identifies Law No. 9/2012 and Decree No. 33/2018 for social and amusement games. Its application description requires evidence about the legal applicant, finances, technical systems, game rules and other operating conditions.

Operational betting entities in the IGJ register

The official table showed these entities and brands as operational at the fact-check date. The order below follows the regulator's numbering, not an editorial preference:

Inclusion means only that the IGJ page marked the entity operational. BBA did not open accounts, inspect logged-in terms or verify a domain for each brand. The table is therefore an official-status reference, not a safety, performance or value endorsement.

What does the inactive column mean?

The same IGJ table marked 13 additional legal entities as licensed but inactive. It did not show a consumer brand for several of those rows. An inactive entry should not be presented as a current operating choice.

Before using a brand that previously operated:

1. check whether its regulator row has moved to operational;
2. confirm the exact legal entity;
3. ask whether an old account balance or withdrawal is handled by that entity;
4. avoid a mirror claiming to be a replacement without official confirmation.

The register's separate columns are meaningful. "Licensed" and "licensed in operation" are not interchangeable descriptions.

How to connect an IGJ row to the correct website

The public table names companies and brands but does not display an official domain beside every entry. That leaves an impersonation risk. Use this chain:

1. Open the IGJ register through the inspectorate's own website.
2. Copy the exact legal entity and brand.
3. Ask the IGJ or licensee for the authorized domain and licence details.
4. Compare the entity in the website terms with the register.
5. Compare the payment recipient with the contracting entity.
6. Save the regulator result and date.

Checks before a Mozambique deposit

Local currency and mobile payment support can make a site accessible, but do not answer every consumer-protection question. Record:

• account and settlement currency;
• operator and payment-provider fees;
• minimum and maximum withdrawal;
• identity documents and review timing;
• whether the withdrawal must use the deposit route;
• legal entity shown on the transaction;
• complaint contact at both the operator and IGJ.

Stop if the payment is redirected to a personal account, if support requests a one-time banking password, or if the domain changes to an unrelated brand. Do not send a second deposit to release an existing withdrawal.

What the official list does not establish

The register does not score:

• odds or market coverage;
• withdrawal speed;
• customer support;
• account restrictions;
• app security;
• individual payment availability;
• responsible-gambling tool quality.

Those claims require their own current evidence. BBA has not converted the official list into a "top 10" because regulatory status and service quality are different questions.
