Egypt Betting Sites: Regulation, Licence Checks and Risks

See what Egyptian official sources say about online sports betting, why no local site list is verified, and how to check identity and payment claims.

RESEARCHEDFACT CHECKED · 4 PRIMARY SOURCES

This page is a source check, not legal advice and not a list of offshore sites that happen to load in Egypt. Accessibility, Arabic language support, an Egyptian pound display or a foreign licence does not establish local authorization.

What do Egyptian official sources say?

The most current official material found in this review does not support a consumer-facing list of locally licensed online sportsbooks:

  • On 20 May 2026, the Ministry of Youth and Sports described continued efforts to confront sports betting and the risks of electronic platforms.
  • On 14 April 2026, an official government report said the Prime Minister reviewed legislative and regulatory treatment of electronic gambling, including procedures needed to regulate and legalize companies operating in the field.
  • In November 2024, the Ministry of Youth and Sports said regulations governing publicity by sports companies prohibit advertising a company connected to betting.

Those statements show a live policy and enforcement issue. They do not name a public list of online operators authorized for Egyptian residents. BBA therefore treats any current "licensed in Egypt" claim as unverified until an Egyptian authority connects the legal company, domain and permitted activity.

Why availability is not a reason to publish top choices

A website can accept registrations from an Egyptian IP address without being locally authorized. It can also display familiar payment methods that later fail, route through another company or apply different withdrawal conditions.

A defensible recommendation would require at least:

  1. an exact legal entity;
  2. a current Egyptian authorization number;
  3. an official record covering online sports betting;
  4. evidence that the exact domain and customer relationship fall within it.

None of those requirements can be replaced by traffic, popularity, a bonus or a foreign regulator badge. Because the public official material reviewed did not provide that chain, this page contains no operator names or affiliate links.

How to test an Egypt licence claim

Legal entity
Who contracts with the player
Evidence to request
Full company name and registration details in the account terms.
Insufficient substitute
A brand name, logo or support username.
Local permission
What activity is authorized
Evidence to request
A current Egyptian authority record naming the company and online sports-betting scope.
Insufficient substitute
A licence from another country with no Egyptian record.
Domain match
Where the permission applies
Evidence to request
The official record or authority confirms the exact domain or connected brand.
Insufficient substitute
A certificate image hosted by the betting site itself.
Every link in the authorization chain must be independently verifiable.

Ask support for the local licence number and issuing body. Then leave the operator's site and locate the authority through an official government domain. Search the legal entity, not only the trading name. If support cannot provide a local record, do not reinterpret a foreign licence as Egyptian approval.

Why activity code 9200 is not a betting licence

The Egyptian Tax Authority's electronic-invoicing activity list includes code 9200 for betting and gambling activities. It is a classification used when taxpayers submit documents under registered branch activities.

An activity code is not a consumer gambling register. It does not identify a brand, authorize a domain, state who may bet, or resolve the current regulatory questions described by government statements.

This distinction matters because a site can cite a company or tax document that appears official while omitting the separate permission required for the actual service it offers.

Payment and identity risks to check first

Do not provide a passport, national ID, card image or one-time password until you have identified the legal recipient and verified why the information is required. Before any deposit, record:

  • the company named in the account terms;
  • the company shown at checkout;
  • supported deposit and withdrawal methods;
  • account currency and conversion rule;
  • withdrawal identity requirements;
  • complaint and dispute route;
  • whether the domain changes during payment.

Stop if a cashier redirects to a personal account, support asks for a banking code, or the payment recipient has no documented relationship to the legal operator. A successful deposit is not evidence that withdrawals will work.

Marketing claims that do not pass this review

  • "Egypt's best betting site" without a published, reproducible method;
  • "legal in Egypt" without a matching local authority record;
  • "licensed and regulated" where only a foreign licence is shown;
  • "instant withdrawal" with no method, conditions or evidence;
  • "government registered" supported only by an activity or tax code;
  • a local-payment logo used as proof of local gambling authorization;
  • an app download supplied through an unrelated domain or message.

Sources and update record

This research-only page was fact-checked on 27 July 2026 against three official Egyptian government reports and the Tax Authority's activity list. The page deliberately makes no categorical claim about every form of gambling or every individual user's legal position.

Because the official record shows regulatory work in progress and did not provide a domain-level online-sportsbook register, BBA publishes no ranking, score, affiliate link or claim that a site is locally approved.

Frequently asked questions

Which betting sites are licensed in Egypt?

BBA did not find a public Egyptian register that matched current online sportsbook brands and domains to local licences during the 27 July 2026 review.

Does an offshore licence make a betting site legal in Egypt?

A foreign licence only verifies the scope granted by that foreign regulator. It does not by itself prove Egyptian authorization.

Does Egyptian tax activity code 9200 prove approval?

No. It is an invoicing activity classification, not a domain-level gambling licence or consumer authorization list.

Why does this page contain no operator links?

BBA will not monetize an Egypt recommendation without an official record connecting the exact domain, legal company and locally permitted activity.
